"Best of Show - Gold Award"
"This piece grabbed me the moment I saw it. Even though the artist used a deliberate economy of
strokes to create the painting, the subject still clearly conveys the strong light of the day (with
strategic use of the orange base), the weight of the sculpture, and the texture contrast between the
trees and the sculpture. This piece is a beautiful example of creating visual strength through a
carefully edited subject and smart decisions of each and every mark placed on the painting."
