While on a plein air painting trip north in late summer, I visited the grounds of the former State of Michigan Mental Institution. Long since closed in the late 1990's the building now houses a number of speciality shops, galleries, eateries and upscale apartments.  Here I am working early one morning on one of the east facades of the lovely building.
