« Autos by Gary | Main | Harvest Poetry - More Wheat Bales »

Part of the excitement of working plein air is finding more than you expect in the landscape. Here I came expecting to paint wheat bales and just decided that I needed more of a challenge. The tractor looked just like what I needed as a change of pace. Although the morning was clear pleasant by the time I began this painting at about 11 am the afternoon clouds began to build and the light was getting very intermittent. Luckily I always make a compositional thumbnail sketch and note my lights and shadows for the painting.
